Nursery & Child Care for Congregational Meeting

March 9th, 2010

There will be no Awana Bible Club on Wednesday, March 10, 2010.  All adult and youth members are encouraged to attend the Congregational Meeting on Functional Structure with our Executive Minister, the Rev. Dr. Dwight Stinnett.  Dr. Stinnett will attend CHUPPERS at 5:00 p.m.  Then, he will make a presentation on church governance and ministry, with a question / answer period, starting at 6:00 p.m.  No decisions or votes will occur during this Congregational Meeting.  The Children’s Ministry will provide Nursery Care (new born thru age 4) and Child Care (pre-school thru 3rd grade) for individuals and couples who attend the Congregational Meeting.  Please register for CHUPPERS accordingly.  Contact me if you have questions or concerns.

Christian Sympathy to Keim Family

Central Baptist Church family expresses its sincere sympathy to James, Patricia and Judith and family at the death of their father, Albert Keim.  Al went to be with the Lord on Sunday, March 7, 2010 at Good Samaritan Home in Quincy.  He was a godly man, faithful father and a follower of Jesus Christ having joined Central Baptist Church by transfer of letter on June 22, 1983.  Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 11, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Hansen Spear Funeral Home in Quincy, Illinois.  A funeral service will be held Thursday, March 11 at 10:30 am. at the funeral home.  Interment will be at New Providence Cemetery in Ursa, Illinois following the service.  Memorial gifts will be received at Central Baptist Church in honor of Al’s life and legacy.   Please pray for the family: Ask God the Father to send the promised Holy Spirit to Comfort, Counselor and Guide during this time of grief in the Name of Jesus Christ, our Risen Savior and Lord.

S.S. Teacher Training Workshop

Registration Sunday School Teacher Training

Register for the two-day workshop for adult, youth and children’s Sunday School Teachers with Dr. Leah Gunning Francis, Ph.D., Assistant Professor of Christian Education at Eden Theological Seminary in Saint Louis, Missouri, on Friday and Saturday, April 30 and May 1, 2010.  Dr. Francis will present a philosophy for Christian education during Friday night’s session (6:00 to 8:30 p.m.), and practical applications on improving your teaching skills using ”multi intelligence” and inter-generational learning during Saturday’s sessions (8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).  Persons of all Christian faith traditions are encouraged to register.  The cost of the event is $45.00 per person, which includes sessions, an Arby’s Market Fresh Sandwich lunch and one copy of Maria Harris’ book, “Fashion Me a People.”  Registration deadline: Monday, April 12, 2010.

March Monthly Mission Project – Labels for Education

The Board of Missions will be collecting Labels for Education (see list: Labels for Edcuation Eligible Products) during the month of March for Murrow Indian Children’s Home in Muskogee, Oklahoma.  Please place your donation in the mission box in the Heritage Room.  Each month, the Board selects a hands-on project for our members and friends.  Thank you for donating 369 diapers in Feburary!
