Christainity 101 Classes

Central Baptist Church offers non-credited CORE classes to help adults grow into spiritually mature followers of God in Jesus Christ.  Classes are offered each year on a rotating basis, including the Pathfinders discipleship class required for membership.  Any person of faith – and those who have no faith – are encouraged to enroll.  There are no costs for these classes (except the Mission 101 Short Term Trip to Costa Rica), and no obligation to join Central Baptist Church or be a Baptist.  There will be no tests, exams or papers to write.  Classes will not be cancelled because of low enrollment.  Register online today or contact the Church Office at pastor@cbcquincy.org or phone (217) 222-1310.

PATHFINDERS – Introduction to Central Baptist Church: a four-week class to introduce new and perspective members to the Good News of Jesus Christ, Christian Living and the Church.  This course is taught by the Pastor in partnership with the Diaconate (Boards of Deacons and Deaconesses).  Topics include: Christian discipleship, How the Bible was Formed, Believer’s Baptism, and Spiritual Gifts.  Come find God’s path for your spiritual life.   Children, age 8 to 12, should enroll in new Children’s Baptismal Class  (a faith formation class designed for younger children). Baptists 101 – Freedom & Conscience: a six-week, introductory course to Baptist faith and practice.  The class will cover the six Baptists principles: Soul Freedom, Believers’ Baptism, The Bible, Priesthood of All Believers, Religious Liberty, and Autonomy of the Local Church.  We will also briefly Baptist history.  Upcoming classes:

Bible 101 – Introduction to Study: a twelve-week, introductory course designed to help students discover a practical approach to studying God’s Word. This class addresses how we got our Bible, the best translations, finding background information, and proper interpretation. Students will learn to remove all guess work and confusion to biblical studies. There will be no tests or exams. Each student will receive a free copy of Gordon D. Fee and Douglas Stuart’s book, “How to Read the Bible for All Its Worth.”  There is no cost for this class.  Upcoming classes

Church History:a fourteen-week course covering the history of Christianity from the age of the Apostles to the Founding of Central Baptist Church in Quincy.  This class will highlight the martyrdom of Christians, the rise of Roman Christianity, the Monastic movement, the Reformation, English Separatists and current Baptist mission.  Everyone interested in history should enroll today!  Upcoming classes:

Evangelism 101 – Becoming a Contagious Christian: a proven eight-week course designed to equip believers for effective evangelism in today’s world. It avoids the stereotyped approaches that feel intimidating to many Christians. Instead, it shows ordinary believers how they can share the Gospel in a natural and powerful way while being the person God made them to be. Each session’s exercises, discussions, self-assessments, and video vignettes give step-by-step guidance to help participants become effective communicators for Christ to those around them. There’s even a section on everyday answers that will help believers respond to difficult questions regarding Christianity.  Upcoming classes:

Ministry 101 - Finding your God-given S.H.A.P.E.: a dynamic six-week process to help Christians understand who God has uniquely made them to be and guide them to a place of fruitful and fulfilling service in the local church.  Each participant will work through a series of assessments, which leads them to discover their unique blend of spiritual gifts, personal style, and ministry passion.  The participants also are taught the biblical nature and purpose of the church as the body of Christ and the unique importance of each member’s contribution.  The NETWORK material was developed by Bruce Bugbee and Don Counsins to equip believers to better understand what the church is…how it works…who they are…and how they fit in.  Upcoming classes.

Mission 101 – Cross Cultural Experience:a ten-week eye-opening cross cultural experience for men and women of all ages.  This class prepares volunteers for a mission work tour in the United States or Central America.  There is no cost for the class.  However, persons going on the Short Term Mission Trip must pay airfare, travel expenses, work group building materials expenses, and other costs, for a Work Tour in Costa Rica, Central America.  Interested individuals are encouraged to register early.
