			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;"><strong>Central Baptist Church</strong> maintains several scholarship and educational grants for active members of the congregation. The Board of Trustees invites members of Central Baptist Church to apply for academic assistance for studies at accredited schools of higher education.  Each applicant must comply with all written guidelines for academic assistance.  Recipients are responsible for complying with the United States Internal Revenue Service rules, and are responsible for discussing academic assistance income with their tax preparer.  Members may apply (<a href="http://www.cbcquincy.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/02/Application-for-Academic-Assistance-Guidelines-.pdf">Application for Academic Assistance &amp; Guidelines</a>) for one or more of the following:</p>
<ul>
<li>Central Baptist Church Scholarship Fund &#8211; interest from the Scholarship Fund is divided equally among all approved recipients. </li>

<li>Nellie Botts Foley Memorial Fund &#8211; see Church Office for written guidelines</li>

<p><strong><em>Applications must be presented to the Church Office on or before April 1, 2010 for the 2010/2011 Academic Year.  </em></strong></p>
<p><strong><a href="http://www.abc-grr.org" target="_blank">The American Baptist Churches of the Great Rivers Region</a> </strong>maintain several scholarship and educational grants for active members of American Baptist Churches in Illinois and Missouri.  Central Baptist Church is an active congregation in the Region.  Therefore, the church encourages its active members to also apply for academic assistance through our denominational partner:</p>

<p><strong>The <a href="http://www.abc-usa.org" target="_blank">American Baptist Churches USA </a></strong>(our national demonination) also provides scholarships and educational grants for active members of an American Baptist Church.  Members of Central Baptist Church are encouraged to apply for <strong>undergraduate, seminary and graduate (Ph.D.) </strong>assistance through the <a href="http://www.nationalministries.org/education/financial_aid/index.cfm" target="_blank">The Office of Financial Aid for Studies, National Ministries, ABCUSA</a>.  Certain restrictions and deadlines apply.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p style="text-align: justify;">All new and returning Officers, Board and Committee members will have an orientation meeting on Monday, January 4, 2010 at 6:00 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall.  This thirty minute meeting will cover the organizational structure of the Congregation, Constitution &amp; Bylaws, The A-B-C&#8217;s of Parliamentary Procedure, Requisitions &amp; Financial Matters (how to spend money and how to get reimbursed) and the Pastor&#8217;s vision for 2010.  All Officers, Board and Committee members and full time staff are expected to attend this annual meeting.  Please contact the Moderator or Pastor if you will not be able to join them.</p>
<p style="text-align: justify;">Initial Board Meetings &#8211; Each Officer, Board and Committee chair sets the date and time for monthly meetings with consent from the members.  The initial meeting for each Board in 2010 will be:</p>
<ul style="text-align: justify;">
<li>Board of Missions &#8211; Monday, January 4 at 6:30 p.m. in the Parlor</li>
<li>Board of Christian Education &#8211; Monday, January 4 at 7:00 p.m. in the Heritage Room</li>
<li>Board of Deacons &amp; Deaconesses &#8211; Tuesday, January 5 at 7:00 p.m. in the Parlor</li>
<li>Board of Trustees &#8211; Tuesday, January 12 at 6:45 p.m. in the Lounge</li>
</ul>
<p style="text-align: justify;">All new Board and Committees need to have their organizational meetings to elect new chairs, appoint committee members, set date and time of meetings in 2010 before Sunday, January 17 to allow new leadership names to be included in the 2009 Annual Report.</p>
