Wedding Shower for Lacey Little & Andrew Corrigan

The Co-Builders Sunday School Class will host a wedding shower for Lacey Little & Andrew Corrigan on Sunday, February 26 from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. in the Parlor. All women of the Church are invited to this open house wedding shower. The couple is registered at Kohls, and Bed, Bath & Beyond. Lacey’s parents are Bryan & Penny Little. Her grandparents are Frank & Joan Drummond. A wedding shower is hold for couples entering their first marriage when the bride or groom is a member of the church. 7•7•7 CONCERT OF PRAYER

For decades, Concerts of Prayer have served as a means of calling God’s people to pray together in intimacy and unity. What is a Concert of Prayer? A Concert of Prayer is a solid block of time spent with the Lord and others in seeking the Lord in prayer. In days gone by, a time and date was set when churches would gather in their appropriate places of worship and pray for the same thing at the same time, thus creating the idea of a “concert” of prayer. It is very much like the idea of the unified prayer and fasting of God’s people in the book of Esther. You are invited to pray at 7 O’clock (a.m. and p.m.) for 7 petitions, 7 days a week. The goal: our entire church united in prayer for a Harvest.

WEEK OF JANUARY 22-28

1. PRAY FOR PERSONAL CLEANSING AND PREPARATION – “Create in me a clean heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me,” Psalm 51:10.

2. PRAY AS JESUS DIRECTED: For God to Send More Laborers into the Field (Matt. 9:35-38) – Prayer for more laborers in Children’s BuGs Bible Club and Children’s Sunday school.

3. PRAY AS PAUL DIRECTED THE CHURCHES: For The Laborers That “Are” (Col. 4:2-6) – Pray for our volunteer Youth Leaders – Cindy Brown, Chet Coonrod, Ronna Rife, and Sandy Van Os.

4. PRAY AS PAUL’S HEART DIRECTED: For the Lost that Burden Your Heart (Rom. 10:1)

5. PRAY FOR THE LABORERS THAT ARE PRESENT: Praying for One another (Acts 13:1-4) – Pray for our Deacons and Deaconesses: Gib Allen, Robert S. Buddemeyer, Carol Buddemeyer, Doris Durk, Ron Durk, Glenn Glessner, Lareva Glessner (Chair), Nata Selves, Jakay Steckler, Sandra Van Os, Connie Wells, William “Bill” Wells, Ruth Willis, Carol Williams, and Lem Williams.

6. PRAY FOR OUR CITY, COUNTY, STATE AND NATION

7. PRAYER FOR CHRISTIANS AROUND THE WORLD – All Baptists are invited to pray for these countries: Cyprus, Greece, and Turkey. The BWA has no member organizations in these countries to date.

New Members Class – Pathfinders

Introduction to Central Baptist Church: a three-week class to introduce new and perspective members to the Good News of Jesus Christ, Christian Living and the Church. This course is taught by the Pastor in partnership with the Diaconate. Topics include: Christian discipleship, Believer’s Baptism, and History of Central Baptist Church. Christmas Tea Party

Pastor Ivan and Esther are hosting a Christmas Tea Party to Bring In! our neighbors on Tuesday, December 6 at 11:00 a.m. This formal, evangelistic, English Tea Party will be cordinated by Susan Asher, owner of Thyme-Out Tea Parties. A guest will share their testimony about Jesus’ birth. Menu: finger sandwiches, desserts, homemade scones, and various brewed teas. Suggested donation of $20.00 per church member, but non-members are free. Reservations required: RSVP By Thursday, December 1 to (217) 222-1310. Please wear your favorite Christmas attire.

AED (AUTOMATED EXTERNAL DEFIBRILLATOR) TRAINING

Central Baptist Church is fortunate to now have an automated external defibrillator, which can diagnose and treat dangerous cardiac rhythms in someone having a heart attack. Sandy Van Os, RN, will provide training on the use of an AED on Wednesday, November 16, 2011 from 5:00 – 5:45 in the Lounge. Training will only take 10 – 15 minutes. Church staff, ushers, and all regular attendees of Central are encouraged to drop by and find out how to help save a life. No medical knowledge is required…just a desire to know how to help in case of an emergency situation.
