Jason Sommerfeldt came to us from the state of Pennsylvania and plans on settling down here in Quincy with his family. He grew up as the son of an Air Force firefighter, and as a result of this he has lived in many different places including Japan, Spain, California, and Springfield, Illinois. He graduated from Glenwood High School in Chatham, Illinois in 2002 and then attended Central Christian College of the Bible in Moberly, Missouri. After graduating with his Bachelor’s degree in Youth and Family Ministry in 2006, he then married his college sweetheart, Constance Epley, one week after receiving his degree. The young couple promptly began their first ministry in La Monte, Missouri where Jason served as a youth minister for nearly two years. Over the years the couple served in several different ministries including working at a youth home, ministering in several churches in both Kansas and Oklahoma, and working within hospitals and nursing homes caring for the sick. During these years, Jason and Constance had two children, Justin and Addison. Being called back in the pastoral ministry, Jason furthered his education in 2013 by attending Liberty University and received his Masters of Divinity with an emphasis in Pastoral Care in 2016. Having his new degree, Jason reached out through the American Baptist Association and was eventually presented with the opportunity to come and preach here at Central Baptist Church. We are overjoyed that Jason and his family has joined us here at Central Baptist Church in Quincy, and look forward to seeing how the Lord will use him in the ministry of this church.
