MONTHLY MISSION PROJECT – The Ministry of Missions will be collecting TOYS FOR TOTS with the Marine Corps Organizaion in Quincy, the month of November. Please place donated items in the Mission Box.
Marilyn Lisenbee, Central Baptist’s representative to Church Women United, invites each family in the congregation to donate $5.00 to provide a warm blanket that can be used as a tent, a tote, shade, room divider, etc. Blanket envelopes will be in the pew pockets or mark donation “blankets.” A new, yellow Church World Service Blanket is displayed in the Heritage Room. Pastor Jim Harper is our new interim pastor. Jim lives in Jacksonville Illinois with his wife Lucy.
Lucy is the human resource director for Pathway Services, an organization which assists people with disabilities. Jim is presently the Associate Chaplain at Passavant Area Hospital in Jacksonville.In 2015
Jim retired from First Baptist of Jacksonville after twenty one years as Senior Pastor. Before that he served churches in Indiana and Illlinois. He is a graduate of Northern Baptist Theological Seminary in Lombard Illinois.Pastor Harper is also the chairman for the ordination committee of the Great Rivers Region and is the past president of the board for the Lake Springfield Baptist Camp.
Pastor Harper has two children, Jennifer who is a chaplain in the United States Army and Jana who is a massage therapist. He also has three energetic grandchildren and one on the way in November. Jim enjoys playing golf, tennis and traveling.
ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION – Please join our family on this joyous occasion when our parents, David and Carolyn Brown, celebrate 50 years of marriage. PANCAKE PALOOZA – The Youth at Central Baptist Church will host their annual “Pancake Palooza” fundraiser on, Sunday, September 11, from the end of first service until 10:30 a.m. in the Fellowship Hall. A free will donation will be received to help fund Youth programming and activities. No reservations are needed. The Junior and Senior High youth meet weekly for Bible study, and plan activities throughout the year – including an annual ski trip and Young Christians Weekend.
BACK TO SCHOOL FAIR – Central Baptist will collect school supplies for the Back to School Fair in August. Donors should remove price tags or mark bar-code with vertical black markers. The Ministry of Mission will sort the school supplies after their August meeting. Please place donated school supplies (no backpacks this year) in the large Mission Box in the Foyer. Cash donations are also welcome.
