The Board of Deacons is sponsoring a six-week campaign to strengthen marriages at Central Baptist Church starting February 14 through March 21, 2010. In the movie FIREPROOF, Capt. Caleb Holt lives by the old fire fighter’s adage: “Never leave your partner behind.” Inside burning buildings, it’s his natural instinct; but in the cooling embers of his marriage, it’s another story. For Caleb and his wife Catherine, regular arguments over jobs, finances and bad habits have brought them to the point of saying, “it’s just not working out anymore.” As the couple prepares to enter divorce proceedings, Caleb’s dad asks his son to try an experiment – The Love Date. But can Caleb really love his wife while avoiding God’s love for him?
FIREPROOF YOUR MARRIAGE is a six-week small group study based on the movie FIREPROOF, and it includes video clips from the film as part of each session. We hope you’ll relate to and be inspired by Caleb and Catherine as they work through all-too-common struggles on their way to an enduring marriage based on God’s great love. In FIREPROOF YOUR MARRIAGE, you’ll be issued a challenge too – to love first, to love better and to love for a lifetime. Come take the dare!
Watch the movie “FIREPROOF” for free on Friday, February 19 or Saturday, February 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the Church’s Fellowship Hall. Childcare provided for Saturday, Feb. 20 by reservation, only. Call the Church Office at 217-222-1310 to register for childcare.
