38% of Church Members Open their Email Newsletters

February 12th, 2010

Is email the best method for communicating important information to the congregation?  Electronic mail is quick and easy, but is it effective?   Not always!  I have found that only thirty-eight percent of the members of Central Baptist who receive email updates and newsletters from me open their mail according to statistical information from MailChimp.com.  Since January 1, I have used the free email marketing services of MailChimp to send and track electronic information sent to the congregation.  What have I learned?  Surprisingly, persons who attend worship less frequently were more likely to open their electronic newsletters and announcements.  So, I must ask: How can I improve our information systems at Central Baptist Church?  How can I share important ministry updates, service projects and announcements with our members, friends and visitors?  Please send me your ideas: pastor@cbcquincy.org
