During their meeting last night, the Board of Trustees unanimously approved asking the Congregation to hire a Full-Time Youth Minister starting this Fall.  The Board discussed the current need for a professionally trained person to equip our lay leaders for youth ministry in the 21st Century.  Our current lay leaders need help working with neighborhood youth, preparing relevant interactive Bible studies, planning events and maintaining discipline.  The ministry has grown from eight to thirty plus students on Wednesday nights.   After much dialogue about funding strategies and current giving, the Board passed a motion that the Advisory Council and Congregation hire a full-time Youth Minister using “Personnel Reserves” for one year.  The salary was set at $30,000.00 cash per year plus non-exempt benefits listed in the Employee Handbook (i.e. health insurance, employer matching retirement, vacation, etc.).  The Trustees will present the proposal to the Advisory Council on Wednesday, August 19 at 5:30 p.m.  The Congregation will vote on the proposal during the Monthly Business Meeting on Wednesday, August 26 at 7:30 p.m.  The Personnel Committee has a candidate interested in the position.
