Today, I had the privilege of serving at the Soup Kitchen. I was blessed more than expected. Thankfully, no one took my picture in the hairnet, plastic serving gloves and tie-dyed apron. We served a simple meal of soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, dill pickles, salad, dessert, tea, lemonade and water. Ken and Lounette Chatten were great workers (ask them about the salad bowls). And I am always thankful for Dee Smith’s leadership. The biggest blessing for me came when one woman said, “I haven’t been full in a week.” Wow! We saw people with real needs! It was not a glamorous job -we rolled silverware, served food (no cooking), washed dishes and greeted our guests. But I’m glad God was able to use us to bless others. I encourage everyone with the spiritual gift of helps or hospitality to get involved! Call Dee at 242-5295 to volunteer any Friday from 11:00 am to 1:30 p.m. God may fill your heart as Christ’s Church fills the stomachs of the poor.
Blessings,
Pastor Ivan
